1. Julian Wilson

Julian Wilson is a professional surfer from Coolum Beach, Queensland. Although not born in Surfers Paradise, he is closely associated with the area and has made significant contributions to surfing. He joined the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour in 2011 and has since achieved great success, earning multiple WSL event wins and a prestigious second-place finish in the World Surf League Championship in 2018.

2. Mick Fanning

Mick Fanning, another renowned Australian professional surfer, was born in Penrith, New South Wales, but grew up in Tweed Heads, near Surfers Paradise. Fanning is a three-time World Surf League (WSL) Champion, having won the title in 2007, 2009, and 2013. He also faced a close call with a shark attack during the final of the J-Bay Open in 2015, which gained him international attention and further elevated his status as a surfing icon.

3. Stephanie Gilmore

Stephanie Gilmore, originally from Murwillumbah, New South Wales, has become one of the most successful female surfers of all time. While she is not directly from Surfers Paradise, Gilmore has strong ties to the area and is considered an influential figure in Australian surfing. Gilmore secured her first World Surf League (WSL) title in her rookie year in 2007 and went on to claim a total of 7 WSL World Titles, solidifying her dominant presence in the sport.

4. Chelsea Georgeson

Chelsea Georgeson, a former professional surfer born in Sydney, New South Wales, moved to the Gold Coast and spent many years residing in Surfers Paradise. She competed on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour and clinched the World Title in 2005, showcasing her exceptional surfing skills and determination.

5. Kim Walker

Kim Walker, a professional surfer hailing from Burleigh Heads, Queensland, has made significant contributions to the surfing world. Although not originally from Surfers Paradise, Walker lived and trained there during his career. He achieved notable success, winning the Australian Surfing Championships in 1986 and securing various victories in local and international surfing competitions.

6. Layne Beachley

Layne Beachley, born in Sydney, New South Wales, is widely regarded as one of the most successful female surfers in history. While she does not have a direct connection to Surfers Paradise, Beachley competed and trained in the nearby Gold Coast region, leaving an indelible mark on the Australian surfing scene. She holds the record for the most World Surfing Titles, with a remarkable seven championships to her name.

7. Mark Occhilupo

Mark Occhilupo, also known as "Occy," was born and raised in Kurnell, New South Wales. Although not specifically tied to Surfers Paradise, Occhilupo is recognized as one of Australia's most talented surfers. He achieved global recognition by winning the World Surf League (WSL) World Title in 1999, captivating fans with his powerful and dynamic surfing style.

8. Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew

Wayne Bartholomew, affectionately known as "Rabbit," was born in Kogarah, New South Wales, and later moved to Queensland, where he played an instrumental role in popularizing professional surfing. While not originating from Surfers Paradise, Bartholomew resided and surfed there during his career and became the first-ever professional surfing World Champion in 1978. He significantly contributed to the establishment and development of the World Surf League (WSL).
